Padded Hanten Jacket – Part 2

I used polyester wadding for this project. Since the outer shell of the garment was a wool/poly blend, I wasn’t worried about wrinkles or the need to iron the garment in the future. It gave the garment a nice, puffy look, but I cannot say I like it. I somehow feel it is not in keeping with the spirit of the hanten, which I feel should be all natural, easy to wash, wear and iron if necessary.

I would have put pockets on the outside, because the form just screams out for a cosy place to stick your cold hands, but the owner is into austere looking garments, so instead I placed one that would fit a phone on the inside.

One of the choices I was really happy with was the deep hem. I think it gives the hanten a warm, wrapped look and yet also gives the garment some elegance.
